QTX Moonglow 6x1W LED Disco Ball Light Effect - Sound Activated

The QTX Moonglow is a tabletop LED effect light with six 1W LEDs housed beneath a clear faceted dome, projecting multi-coloured beams across ceilings, walls and floors. The dome's moulded ripple pattern refracts the red, green, blue, white, amber and pink LEDs into shifting patterns that respond to music via an internal microphone, or run on a continuous auto sequence when no sound is detected.

Designed for home parties, mobile discos, and permanent installations in function rooms, bars and youth clubs, the Moonglow sits on a flat surface or mounts to walls or ceilings using the bracket holes on the base. The 175mm diameter base gives a stable footprint on tables or shelves, while the 170mm height keeps the dome clear of obstructions. The sound-activated mode adjusts the sequence speed and colour transitions based on ambient music volume, syncing beam movement to the beat without requiring a DMX controller.

The unit draws 20W on 220-240Vac mains and weighs 1.1kg including the dome and base. The LEDs do not require bulb replacement and the faceted dome is moulded from clear polycarbonate, offering durability in high-traffic environments. The wide beam angle covers rooms up to approximately 4m x 4m when ceiling-mounted, or creates floor and wall wash effects when placed on a low surface.

How does the sound-activated mode work?

An internal microphone picks up ambient music and adjusts the sequence speed and colour transitions based on the volume and beat. The effect runs faster and more dynamically when music is playing, and reverts to a slower auto sequence when the room is quiet.

Can it be controlled via DMX?

No. The Moonglow operates in sound-activated auto mode only. It does not support DMX control or manual colour selection.

What room size does it cover?

When ceiling-mounted, the wide beam angle typically covers rooms up to approximately 4m x 4m. Larger rooms benefit from multiple units positioned at intervals to fill dead zones.

Is it safe to leave running for extended periods?

The LEDs are rated for continuous operation and the unit draws only 20W, generating minimal heat. The polycarbonate dome remains cool to the touch during normal use, making it safe for prolonged running during parties or events.
