Description
The QTX DM-X16 is a 192-channel DMX lighting controller with 16 physical faders, 12 fixture buttons, and 30 programmable banks holding 8 scenes each. The front panel provides direct access to all 16 channels simultaneously without page navigation, while the LCD display shows the current scene, chase and fixture status. The controller can store up to 240 scenes across 30 banks and program these into 6 chase sequences holding up to 240 scenes each.
Designed for small theatre, stage, church and event lighting installations where multiple fixtures need coordinated control, the DM-X16 can trigger chase sequences by sound activation, manual tap tempo, or automatic timing ranging from 0.1 seconds to 10 minutes per step. Each of the 12 fixture buttons controls up to 16 DMX channels per fixture, giving full control over 192 channels total. A MIDI IN port allows the controller to sync with MIDI equipment or compatible software for timed show programming.
The controller is housed in a 19-inch rack-mountable case with removable plastic protection handles that can be detached for permanent rack installation. A blackout button cuts all outputs instantly, while a built-in microphone allows audio triggering of chases without requiring external sound-to-light hardware. The included LED gooseneck lamp plugs into the rear panel to illuminate the control surface in dark performance environments. The unit runs on a 9Vdc 1A external power supply and weighs 3.0kg.

Frequently Asked
How many fixtures can the DM-X16 control?
The controller has 12 fixture buttons, each controlling up to 16 DMX channels. This means it can control 12 fixtures of up to 16 channels each, or more fixtures if they use fewer channels. The total channel limit is 192.
Can scenes be triggered by music?
Yes. The built-in microphone allows chase sequences to be triggered by sound without needing external sound-to-light hardware. Chases can also be triggered manually by tap tempo or automatically using the time faders.
Is the controller rack-mountable?
Yes. The DM-X16 is 19-inch rack-mountable. The plastic protection handles on either end are removable for permanent rack installation. The unit is 520mm wide and 73mm tall (approximately 1.5U rack height).
What is the MIDI IN port used for?
The MIDI IN port allows the controller to sync with MIDI equipment or compatible software. This is useful for running timed lighting shows that need to stay synchronised with music playback or other MIDI-controlled elements.
