Description

The QTX 30cm disco ball is built on a lightweight polyethylene core covered with hundreds of 7mm mirrored glass tiles arranged in a faceted grid. Two metal hanging loops on the top provide dual-point suspension for secure ceiling mounting, and the 300mm diameter suits residential party rooms, small bars, boutique retail spaces and compact event venues.

Designed to scatter pinpoint reflections across walls and ceilings when hit by a directed beam or pinspot, the disco ball functions as both a light effect and a decorative object. The 30cm size works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards, positioned where it can rotate freely on a motor or swivel without obstruction. The reflections intensify in darker rooms with concentrated light sources rather than diffuse ambient lighting.

The polyethylene core keeps the weight at 3.1kg despite the glass mirror coverage, making it lighter than equivalent-sized balls built on polystyrene or solid resin cores. The dual hanging loops distribute load evenly and provide a backup mounting point if one loop is inaccessible during installation. The 7mm mirror tiles are adhered individually to the curved surface, so there are visible grout lines between each facet rather than a seamless mirror finish.

Frequently Asked

Does it come with a motor?

No. The disco ball is supplied on its own with hanging loops only. A separate mirror ball motor is needed to rotate it. QTX and other brands produce motors rated for 3-5kg loads that pair with this ball.

What light source works best with it?

A pinspot or narrow-beam LED positioned 1-2m away creates the clearest reflections. Diffuse room lighting or wide-beam floods produce less defined sparkle because the light spreads across multiple facets at once.

Can it be used outdoors?

The polyethylene core resists moisture better than polystyrene, but the mirrored tiles are adhered with glue that can degrade in sustained wet conditions. Short-term outdoor use under a canopy is acceptable, but permanent outdoor installation will shorten the lifespan of the adhesive bond.

How is the ball cleaned?

Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or residue, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the ball as liquid can seep between the tile gaps and loosen the adhesive.
