QTX 18W 2ft T8 Fluorescent UV Tube - 365nm Black Light

The QTX 18W T8 fluorescent UV tube is a 600mm (2ft) black light tube emitting ultraviolet at 365nm with an output of 80μW/cm². The tube has a standard 26mm diameter T8 profile and fits any compatible fluorescent fitting with G13 bi-pin connectors.

Suited to stage lighting for UV-reactive props and costumes, small entertainment venues, and banknote verification systems, the tube provides consistent UV output across its full length. The 600mm format works in compact installations where space limits the use of longer tubes. The 18W rating draws less power than equivalent 36W or 58W tubes while maintaining sufficient UV intensity for small to medium spaces.

The 365nm wavelength sits in the UVA range, causing fluorescent materials to glow without producing visible purple light or excessive ozone. The black glass coating filters out most visible spectrum light, leaving only the ultraviolet output. The tube operates on standard fluorescent ballasts rated for 18W T8 tubes and has a bi-pin G13 base at each end.

Does it produce visible light?

The black glass coating filters most visible spectrum light, so the tube appears very dim to the eye. The primary output is ultraviolet at 365nm, which causes fluorescent materials to glow but is itself invisible.

What size space does it cover?

At 80μW/cm² output, one 600mm tube provides effective UV coverage for approximately 1-2 square metres at close range. For larger areas or stronger effects, multiple tubes or longer 1200mm versions are needed.

Is it safe for skin and eyes?

Prolonged direct exposure to UVA at this intensity can cause skin and eye irritation. Position the tube so direct viewing is avoided, and limit exposure times in occupied spaces.
