Pyaar Large Carved Mango Wood Serving Bowl - Natural

A serving bowl carved from mango wood, 45cm across the long axis, 30cm across the short and 11.5cm deep. The bowl is an oval with a flat squared handle projecting straight out from the rim at each end. Below the rim the outside carries a band of overlapping carved scallops cut with a gouge, and beneath that the surface is worked into broader facets. Inside it is smooth, and the grain sweeps across the bowl in dark and pale concentric bands.

At 45 by 30cm this is a table bowl rather than a mixing bowl, and it holds onions and garlic on a worktop. It is 11.5cm deep, which takes fruit, bread or a salad, and the flat handle at each end means it can be lifted level with one hand under each. It weighs 1.755kg empty.

The bowl is mango wood, carved by hand from a single piece, so the grain figure, the depth of the scalloping and the tone of the wood differ from bowl to bowl. It is food safe. Mango is a by-product of fruit growing in India, cut for timber once the trees have stopped bearing. The Pyaar range also holds a small bowl, a tray, and a tray and bowl together.

45cm by 30cm, and 11.5cm deep.

Is it food safe?

Yes.

Yes. The Pyaar range also holds a small bowl, a tray, and a tray and bowl together.
