Powersaver Plus Boost Controller - White

The Sangamo Powersaver Plus is a boost controller with three timed override settings — 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours — designed to provide temporary manual control over heating, ventilation or hot water systems. The controller carries a 16A switch rating on 240V AC, allowing it to control higher-draw circuits including immersion heaters, extractor fans and under-floor heating zones.

Installed as a single-gang fitting in residential or light commercial settings, the Powersaver Plus can be surface-mounted (using the included mounting box) or flush-fitted to a standard 25mm back box. Three indicator LEDs on the faceplate show which timer interval is active, with the green LED illuminated when the boost function is engaged. Once the selected interval completes, the controller automatically switches off, reverting control to the primary timer or thermostat.

The white faceplate measures 90mm x 92mm (excluding projection) and integrates cleanly into contemporary interiors alongside other standard wiring accessories. The large rocker switch beneath the timer display provides clear tactile feedback when pressed, and the timer intervals are printed directly onto the faceplate rather than requiring a separate label or sticker that can fade or peel over time.

What is a boost controller used for?

A boost controller provides temporary manual override of heating, hot water or ventilation systems controlled by a separate timer or thermostat. The Powersaver Plus allows you to activate a circuit for a set period (30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours) without altering the main timer programming. This is useful for on-demand hot water heating, bathroom extractor fans after showering, or supplementary heating when needed outside scheduled times.

Can it be surface-mounted?

Yes. The Powersaver Plus includes a surface-mount box in the packaging, allowing installation directly onto a wall surface without cutting into plasterwork. Alternatively, it can be flush-fitted to a standard 25mm single-gang back box.

What does the 16A switch rating mean?

The 16A rating at 240V AC means the controller can safely switch loads up to 3,840W. This covers most domestic immersion heaters, under-floor heating zones and high-capacity extractor fans. Circuits above 16A require a higher-rated controller.

Do the timer intervals repeat automatically?

No. Once the selected interval (30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours) completes, the controller switches off and returns control to the primary timer or thermostat. To activate another boost period, the switch must be pressed again manually.
