60W IP44 Round Cage Bulkhead - Black

A round cage bulkhead in black, rated IP44, built around a clear diffuser moulded in deep concentric ribs and guarded by four bars that cross the face and meet a ring around the rim. It takes a separate lamp rather than a fixed LED, on an E27 Edison screw cap, to a maximum of 60W. You pick the lamp yourself, and you can change it later without touching the fitting. The ribbing scatters light sideways as well as straight out, so the fitting washes the wall around it instead of pushing one bright pool forward.

IP44 is protection against water splashing from any direction, and that is what puts this fitting on an outside wall. A porch, a back door, a side passage, a garage, a shed or a covered walkway where rain blows in all suit it, and it fixes flat to a wall or a ceiling. Indoors it works where a fabric shade would only collect dust: a utility room, a cellar, a stairwell, a workshop, a boiler cupboard. In a bathroom, IP44 covers zone 2 and the areas outside the zones, so beside a basin rather than above a bath or inside a shower enclosure.

Control is your existing wall switch; the manufacturer does not say whether the fitting will run on a dimmer, so if you want to dim it, check the lamp and the dimmer together first. Brightness and colour temperature come from the lamp you fit, not from the fitting, so a 2700K lamp reads warm over a front door while a 4000K one reads cleaner and more useful in a garage. Stay at or under 60W. It is sold as a single fitting, minimum order one, and if the round face is not the shape you want we also sell oval cage bulkheads in black and white.

What bulb does this bulkhead take?

It takes one E27 Edison screw lamp, the larger of the two screw caps, rated up to a maximum of 60W. Check the cap on your old bulb before ordering.

Can I fit an LED lamp rather than a filament one?

Yes, any E27 LED lamp screws straight in. The 60W figure is a ceiling rather than a target, so a 9W or 10W LED sits well within it.

Can it be used outdoors?

Can I use it in a bathroom?

What colour of light will it give?

That comes from the lamp you fit, not from the fitting. A 2700K lamp gives a warm yellow light; 4000K reads cooler and more neutral for a workshop or garage.
