Description

The PowerMaster oval bulkhead is an IP44-rated outdoor wall light with a white polypropylene base, prismatic glass lens, and protective metal cage. The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) lamp up to 60W (sold separately) and operates on 220-240V mains. The protective cage shields the glass from impact while allowing light to distribute through the prismatic lens.

Designed for covered outdoor areas in zones 1-3, the bulkhead suits porches, side passages, garage exteriors, shed walls, and rear entrances where weather-resistant lighting is needed but full exposure to driving rain is avoided. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction, meaning the fitting handles typical British weather but should not be installed in fully exposed positions or zone 0 (direct contact with water).

The oval footprint measures 125mm wide by 183mm deep with a 125mm height from the wall when mounted. The polypropylene base resists UV degradation and impact better than standard ABS plastic, and the prismatic glass lens diffuses the bulb filament or LED element to reduce glare when the light is viewed from an angle. The white finish integrates neutrally with most exterior colour schemes and pairs with both traditional and contemporary architecture.

The cage adds approximately 15mm of projection beyond the glass and prevents accidental breakage in areas where tools, ladders, or bicycles might be stored or moved near the fitting. The E27 lampholder accepts LED, halogen, or CFL bulbs, with most users choosing a 6-10W LED in 2700K-3000K warm white for porch and pathway applications.

Wiring connects to a terminal block inside the base, accessed by removing the glass lens and cage assembly. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P Building Regulations.
