Description
The PowerMaster 5ft twin batten fitting accepts two LED T8 tubes (sold separately) behind an IP65-rated housing with an ABS base, polycarbonate clips and a polystyrene diffuser. The IP65 rating provides protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for garages, workshops, outdoor canopies, covered loading bays and industrial settings where dust and moisture are present.
Designed for LED tubes only, the fitting uses T8 lampholders with single-end connection, meaning each tube receives power from one end rather than requiring live-neutral across both ends. This simplifies LED retrofitting in existing batten installations and reduces wiring complexity during first-time installation. The twin-tube configuration provides higher lumen output than single-tube battens, making this fitting appropriate for spaces requiring functional task lighting rather than ambient light.
The 1565mm length accommodates standard 5ft (1500mm) LED T8 tubes, with the housing extending slightly beyond the tube ends to protect the lampholders. At 1.8kg, the fitting mounts to ceiling joists, concrete soffits or steel beams using the fixing points on the ABS backplate. The white finish integrates with typical industrial and commercial ceiling colours without drawing attention, and the polystyrene diffuser softens the direct glare from exposed tubes while maintaining good light transmission.
The fitting is rated for use in bathroom Zones 1, 2 and 3 but not Zone 0. This means it can be installed above a bath or shower enclosure (Zone 1), within 600mm of a shower or bath (Zone 2), or beyond that radius (Zone 3), but cannot be submerged or installed inside a shower cubicle where direct spray contact occurs.

Frequently Asked
Are the LED tubes included?
No. The fitting is supplied as an empty housing. You will need to purchase two 5ft (1500mm) LED T8 tubes separately. The fitting is designed exclusively for LED tubes and is not compatible with older fluorescent T8 tubes that require a ballast.
What does IP65 mean in practical terms?
IP65 means the fitting is fully protected against dust ingress (the '6') and can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction (the '5'). This makes it suitable for outdoor covered areas, garages with open doors, workshops where dust is present, and bathrooms in Zones 1-3, but it is not submersible and should not be installed where direct high-pressure spray or immersion occurs.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, but only in covered or sheltered positions such as under canopies, carports, covered loading bays or eaves where the fitting is protected from direct rain and standing water. The IP65 rating protects against water jets but not prolonged exposure to heavy rain or pooling water on the diffuser.
What is single-end connection?
Single-end connection means each LED tube receives mains power from one end only, rather than requiring live and neutral connections at both ends. This is standard for LED T8 retrofit tubes and simplifies wiring compared to older fluorescent fittings that fed power through both lampholders.
