Description

The PowerMaster 4ft LED batten fitting is a single-tube IP65-rated housing designed for T8 LED tubes on 220-240V mains. The fitting consists of an ABS polymer base moulded with integral cable entry points, a polycarbonate diffuser that clips over the tube, and a T8 lampholder with single-ended connection wiring for LED tubes. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, allowing installation in exposed outdoor locations, cold stores, wet industrial areas and zones 1-3 of bathroom installations.

Designed for workshops, warehouses, car parks, loading bays, commercial kitchens and agricultural buildings, the fitting mounts to ceilings or walls using the two keyhole slots moulded into the ABS base. The 1265mm length suits standard 4ft (1200mm) T8 LED tubes, with a 68mm depth and 72mm width giving a low-profile footprint once installed. The single-ended connection simplifies wiring compared to double-ended tube configurations, as power feeds into one end of the tube only rather than requiring live and neutral at opposite ends.

The polycarbonate diffuser clips onto the ABS base via integrated PC clips that allow the diffuser to be removed for tube replacement or cleaning without tools. The white ABS base and clear polycarbonate diffuser provide a neutral appearance that blends into industrial and commercial environments. At 1.03kg the fitting can be mounted onto plasterboard ceilings with appropriate fixings, though concrete or metal substrates are recommended for high-vibration or impact-prone installations. LED tubes are sold separately.

What does single-ended connection mean?

Single-ended LED tubes receive mains power at one end only, with the lampholder wired live and neutral to the same end of the tube. This simplifies installation compared to double-ended tubes where live and neutral feed opposite ends, but means the fitting is only compatible with LED tubes designed for single-ended operation. Always check the tube specification before purchasing.

Does it come with the LED tube?

No. The fitting is sold as a housing only. You need to purchase a compatible 4ft T8 LED tube separately. Look for single-ended T8 LED tubes rated at 220-240V in the bulbs section.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP65 rating means the fitting is protected against dust and water jets, making it suitable for outdoor canopies, external walkways, loading bays and other exposed locations. It should be mounted under cover or with the diffuser facing downwards to prevent standing water on the upper surface.

Is it suitable for bathroom zones?

The fitting is rated for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3, but not zone 0 (inside the bath or shower cubicle itself). Zone 1 covers the area directly above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m. Always consult a qualified electrician for bathroom lighting installations.
