The PowerMaster 17.5W LED emergency bulkhead gear tray is a 243mm circular LED module designed to retrofit into existing bulkhead housings or to be fitted into new installations. The tray features a white PCB board populated with surface-mounted LEDs, pre-wired with a 3-way or 4-way push terminal connector for mains and emergency connections. The CCT adjustable function allows switching between 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, and 6500K daylight by changing a selector on the driver before installation.

Designed for commercial and public-sector applications requiring emergency lighting compliance, the gear tray provides maintained or non-maintained emergency operation depending on the wiring configuration. The 1725lm output and 120° beam angle suit corridor, stairwell, and general-area installations where uniform light distribution is required. The IP20 rating restricts use to indoor dry locations — Zone 3 bathrooms only, not shower areas or above-basin positions. The tray operates on 220-240V AC mains with an isolated driver to reduce flicker.

The aluminium PCB board dissipates heat across the 243mm diameter, allowing the tray to operate in ambient temperatures from -10°C to +40°C without additional cooling. The 0.21kg weight makes it light enough for ceiling-mounted installations without requiring additional support beyond the bulkhead housing fixings. The quick-fit push terminal simplifies wiring during installation and allows the tray to be removed for maintenance or replacement without disturbing the housing. The >80 CRI rating provides acceptable colour rendering for general commercial use, though not suitable for retail displays or colour-matching applications.

How is the CCT changed?

The colour temperature is selected using a switch or selector on the driver unit before installation. Once the tray is fitted and powered, the selected CCT remains fixed until the driver is accessed again. The three options are 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, and 6500K daylight.

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained emergency mode?

In maintained mode, the tray remains lit during normal mains operation and switches to battery backup during a power cut. In non-maintained mode, the tray only lights when mains power fails. The mode is determined by the wiring configuration during installation, not by a switch on the tray itself.

What bulkhead housing does this fit?

The 243mm diameter tray is designed for standard circular bulkhead housings with approximately 250-260mm internal diameter. Check the dimensions of your existing housing or the specification of the bulkhead you are pairing it with to confirm compatibility.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating limits use to Zone 3 bathrooms only — areas more than 2.25m from the bath or shower tray and above 2.25m height, or outside the bath/shower zone entirely. It cannot be used above a basin, in a shower cubicle, or within the bath zone.
