Description

This beige LED candle takes the form of a classic pillar, 7.5cm across and 15cm tall, with an outer finish of paraffin wax. The top sits slightly recessed inside a raised wax rim, and from its centre rises a small flame-shaped tip that gives a warm glow once lit. It weighs just 0.19KG, so it is easy to move from shelf to table with one hand, and the soft beige sits quietly beside wood, stone and linen. Because the outer is real wax, it looks like an ordinary pillar candle even when unlit.

Running on batteries, it has no wick to trim and no wax pool to tidy, so it can stay where you place it on a bookshelf, a mantelpiece or the middle of a dining table. It suits a living room, a bedroom or a hallway, and it earns its keep on long winter evenings, at a dinner with friends or as part of a Christmas table. The built-in timer turns it off automatically after 8 hours, which helps in a spot you pass every day but might forget, such as a hallway shelf or a windowsill. At this size it also makes an easy gift for anyone who loves candlelight but would rather skip the matches.

Its outer finish is paraffin, and the full composition lists paraffin, polystyrene, copper, polypropylene, steel and silicone. It takes two AA batteries, which are not included, so keep a pair ready for the day it arrives. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download, and the styling props shown are not included. For a simple arrangement, stand it on a stone or wooden tray and add one or two shorter candles beside it, so the heights fall in steps and the glow gathers in one place. On a mantelpiece, a pair placed at either end gives a balanced look without any fuss.
