Description

This white hanging ornament takes the shape of a traditional lantern: narrow at the top, swelling through the middle and tapering again towards a turned finial at the base. It is 26cm across and 50cm tall. Fine vertical lines run the length of the cover, dividing it into soft panels that give it a gently ribbed outline. A slim wire loop at the top takes a hook, and beneath the finial a single bead and a long white tassel hang free. The ornament is made from polyester, bamboo, acacia and iron, and it weighs 0.4KG, so it is light to handle and easy to hang.

Because it is an ornament rather than a lamp, there is no flex to run and no socket to find, so it can go wherever there is a hook: in a bedroom window, above a reading chair, at the end of a hallway or over a dining table. It gives a room the soft outline of a lantern by day and by evening without any wiring. In summer it can come outside for an afternoon too, hung from a low branch over a picnic rug or a garden table.
