Description
This stoneware vase is shaped like a piece of fabric gathered at the waist. Its walls fold and fan outward into a loose, wavy rim, then pinch in above a short, flared foot. It is 23cm long, 30cm wide and 29cm tall, so it is broader than it is deep. At 2.5KG it is a substantial piece with real weight to it. The pink glaze is flecked with fine speckles that are densest towards the rim, which gives the surface depth as light moves across the folds.
The wide, open mouth suits a full, loose arrangement more than a single stem. Tall grasses, branches of foliage and garden flowers can lean out from the folds and spill over the edge. Because it is 30cm wide, it needs a surface with some room around it, such as a sideboard, a hall console, the centre of a dining table or a deep windowsill. It works just as well empty. With nothing in it, the ruffled shape reads as a piece of sculpture, so it earns its place on a bookshelf or mantelpiece between bunches, and it brings a soft run of pink to a neutral living room or bedroom.
The vase is made entirely of stoneware and finished in a glaze. Stoneware is a dense, hard-fired clay, which is why pieces made from it feel solid in the hand. The maker notes that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur. The depth of pink and the spread of speckling will differ a little from one vase to the next, and the one you receive will be its own. For styling, keep the arrangement airy and a little wild so the stems echo the movement of the rim, and set it against a plain wall where the outline can read clearly.

Frequently Asked
What is the vase made of?
It is made entirely of stoneware, a dense, hard-fired clay, and finished in a glaze that gives the pink its speckled surface.
How big is the vase?
It is 23cm long, 30cm wide and 29cm tall, and it weighs 2.5KG. That makes it a substantial vase for a sideboard, console or dining table.
Will every vase look the same?
No two will be quite the same. The maker notes that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur, so the depth of pink and the speckling vary slightly from piece to piece.
What kind of arrangement suits this vase?
Its wide, ruffled mouth suits a full, loose bunch of grasses, foliage and garden flowers that lean outward from the folds, rather than a single stem.
Does it come with the flowers?
No. You receive the stoneware vase on its own. The flowers, the stands and the other styling props shown are not included.
