Description

Our wooden plane mobile is cut from pine, with a loop of hemp cord at the top so it can hang from a hook or a peg rail. It takes the shape of a small propeller aeroplane: a rounded nose carrying a two-blade propeller, a tail fin rising at the back, four window cut-outs along each side, a short wing on each flank and wooden wheels beneath the body. At 25.5cm long, 10.5cm wide and 9.5cm tall, and weighing 0.2KG, it is a modest size that fits a narrow shelf and puts very little load on a hook.

It belongs in a nursery or a child's bedroom, and it works two ways. Hung by its cord, it adds shape and interest to a bare wall, a peg rail or the corner of a room; set down on its wheels, it stands on a bookshelf, a chest of drawers or a windowsill beside picture books and favourite things.
