Description

Pivot is a pendant in black and antique brass. A black oval dish hung from a black flex, with a slim black handle arching over its top and joining it at each side, so the fitting reads as a basket. The dish is shallow with a rolled edge and its whole underside is a flat opal diffuser that glows evenly. The flex enters through a small brass collar on the handle and then loops down loosely into the body, left deliberately slack. Two small brass pivots mark where the handle meets the dish. Everything but those pivots is a flat matt black. It measures 20cm across.

It suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.

The LED is built in at 14W, so there is no bulb to buy and none to fit. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. It carries a G energy label.

No. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to fit.

What happens when the LED fails?

The fitting is replaced rather than relamped. At 14W and normal domestic use that is many years away.

How high should it hang above a dining table?

About 80cm from the table top to the bottom of the shade. Go higher over an island people walk past, and lower over a table nobody passes beneath.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
