Description
The Phlox is a ceiling-suspended pendant light that hangs on an adjustable-drop cable, letting you set the hanging height to suit the spot below. It takes a single GU10 lamp (PAR16) rated up to 10W, so the tone and brightness follow whichever bulb you fit. In US terms a fitting like this would be listed as a hanging light, and the slim Ø54mm cylinder shade casts a focused downward pool rather than a broad ambient wash.
Hung over a kitchen island, a dining table or a breakfast bar, the Phlox places its light where you want it and keeps the line of sight clear. The narrow shade and downward throw make it well suited to task spots and to clustering two or three over a longer run, where each fitting marks its own pool of light. Because the beam is directional rather than room-filling, it works best as accent or task lighting alongside other sources, not as the only ceiling light in a larger living room.
Built from iron with a black finish, the body is a 300mm drop on a Ø54mm shade weighing 464g, light enough for a standard ceiling fixing. It runs on 220 to 240V AC mains through a GU10 holder, with the lamp supplied separately so you can choose the colour temperature and decide whether you want a dimmable bulb. The IP20 rating means it is for dry indoor rooms only. The Phlox sits within our wider Phlox range of pendants if you want to match several fittings across a kitchen and dining space.

Frequently Asked
What hanging height should I set?
The Phlox hangs on an adjustable-drop cable, so you can shorten the cable to suit the room. Over a dining table or island, a lower drop that keeps the shade roughly 70 to 90cm above the worktop usually works well without blocking sightlines across the room.
Is a bulb included and is it dimmable?
The fitting uses a GU10 lamp (PAR16) up to 10W, supplied separately so you can pick the colour temperature you prefer. Whether it dims depends on the bulb you choose, so fit a dimmable GU10 if you want to use it on a dimmer switch.
Can I hang several together?
Yes. The narrow shade and focused downward beam make the Phlox a good candidate for clusters, with two or three hung in a row over a kitchen island or a longer dining table. Each fitting is wired and dropped individually, so you can stagger the heights for effect.
Which rooms is it suitable for?
The Phlox is rated IP20 for dry indoor use, so it suits kitchens, dining rooms, hallways and living rooms. It should not be used outdoors, in a bathroom or in any damp or sheltered-outdoor location.
