Description

A ceramic vase 25cm tall and 22cm across, with a full rounded body that draws in at the shoulder to a short straight collar. Close vertical lines run down the body from shoulder to base, and the reactive glaze has settled so the raised lines read cream while the grooves between them hold a deeper rust. The collar and the rim are left plain, so the pattern stops at the shoulder rather than carrying over the lip.

The vase has more body than opening: the collar draws in from the shoulder, so stems stand upright in it rather than spreading out across the table. That suits a short full arrangement, dried grasses or a few branches, better than one long stem on its own. It is for indoor use. The smaller Perola stands 19cm and repeats the same shape at a lower height.

The vase is ceramic under a reactive glaze. A reactive glaze changes in the kiln rather than coming out as it went in, so the depth of tone shifts across each vase and the line between the cream and the rust falls in its own place every time. Perola is made in this one colourway, in two sizes.
