Description

This is a Christmas throw with two sides to choose from. The green face carries a printed motif of little mice dressed as angels, complete with halos and wings, among stars and scattered dots, while the reverse is a simple stripe, so you can turn it over to suit the room. A chunky tassel finishes each corner. It measures 160cm long and 130cm wide and weighs 1.1KG, which gives it a soft, settled drape rather than the flimsy feel of a lighter throw. The fabric is a blend of 45% cotton, 37% polyester, 8% viscose and 9% other fibre.

At that size it drapes easily over the back of an armchair or the end of a sofa, and it folds neatly across the foot of a bed. We like it in a family living room through December, where it is close to hand for film nights and slow afternoons on the sofa, and the mice make it a natural choice for a children's bedroom too. When the decorations come down, flip it to the striped side and it carries on working through the rest of winter without looking out of season.

Care is straightforward. It goes in the washing machine at 40 degrees, can be tumble dried on a low setting and takes a medium iron, so it copes well with the busy festive weeks. Cotton is soft and breathable, and polyester is a hard-wearing fibre that dries quickly. For styling, fold it loosely over the arm of a chair with one tasselled corner hanging free, so a glimpse of the striped reverse shows along the edge.
