Description
This is a set of four stoneware plates for the Christmas table, each one green with a ring of little angels painted around the edge. The angels have halos and wings, and several are playing trumpets and harps as they circle inside a scalloped border, which leaves the centre of each plate plain for whatever you serve. At 16cm across and 3cm tall, these are side plate size rather than dinner plates: right for a slice of cake, a mince pie, a few biscuits or a starter. The edge rises in a gentle curve, so crumbs stay on the plate.
We would bring them out from the start of Advent: on the breakfast table with toast, beside the cheese board when friends come round, or by the coffee pot on an afternoon of Christmas baking. Four is a useful number for a small household, or for a couple who like to have a friend or two over, and the green sits happily with plain table linens and festive candles alike. They also make a thoughtful gift for someone who already owns everyday plates and would like something cheerful to bring out each December.
Each plate is 100% stoneware with a glazed finish. Stoneware is dense and hard-wearing, which suits plates that come out again and again through the festive weeks. They can go in the oven, so you can warm mince pies on them before they reach the table; they can go in the microwave for reheating a portion; and they go in the dishwasher afterwards, which makes clearing up after a gathering simple. For styling, prop one or two upright on a dresser shelf so the ring of angels shows, then lay all four on the table with a sprig of rosemary on each as a place setting.

Frequently Asked
What size are these plates?
Each plate is 16cm across and 3cm tall, which is side plate or dessert plate size rather than a dinner plate, ideal for cake, biscuits or a starter.
Can they go in the dishwasher?
Yes. The plates go in the dishwasher, so clearing up after a Christmas gathering is simple, and they can go in the microwave too.
Can I use them in the oven?
Yes, they can go in the oven, so you can warm mince pies or a slice of pudding on them before bringing them to the table.
What are the plates made of?
They are 100% stoneware with a glazed finish. Stoneware is dense and hard-wearing, which suits plates you will use often through December.
How many plates are included?
You receive four plates, each with the same ring of painted angels around the edge. The styling props shown are not included.
Are they only for Christmas?
The angels give them a festive feel, but the plain green centre means they work just as well for cake, toast or snacks whenever you like.
