Description

A twelve piece earthenware dinner set glazed in a soft pewter grey, with a band of chocolate brown running round the rim of every piece. The grey is not flat: it shifts in tone across each surface, so a stack of them reads as a set of related greys rather than as one colour repeated, and the brown edge draws a line round every shape.

It is made for everyday use. The pieces are earthenware, they go in the dishwasher and the microwave, and they are food safe. Stacked as it arrives the set stands 36.5cm high on a 27 by 27cm footprint, which is the shelf space to leave for it, and the whole set weighs 7kg. The same pewter and the same brown rim carry through the rest of the Pedra range, so pieces can be added to it later.

Every piece is earthenware and finished by hand, which is where the tonal shift in the glaze comes from and why the rims sit a little off true, so no two pieces come out identical. Pedra is also sold piece by piece: a dinner plate, a side plate, a cereal bowl and a serving bowl, all in the same pewter with the brown rim.
