Paula is a round stoneware mug that holds 410ml, a full-size mug for a large tea, a milky coffee or a hot chocolate. Its body is almost a ball, 10.5cm across and 8.5cm tall, so it sits low and wide, with a loop handle on one side. The reactive glaze runs round it in wavy bands of grey, one at the rim and one round the middle, with paler speckled bands between them and at the base. Inside, the glaze settles into a quiet, lightly speckled grey.

This is a mug for every day: the first tea of the morning at the kitchen table, a coffee at the desk, a hot chocolate on the sofa on a cold evening.
