Description
This round stoneware cup holds 275ml, a comfortable size for a full cup of tea or a generous milky coffee. It measures 9cm across and 8cm tall, so the body is close to a ball, just a little wider than it is high, with a small loop handle set to one side. The beige reactive glaze is flecked with speckle all over and lightens towards the rim. A reactive glaze moves and pools in the kiln as it fires, so no two cups come out quite alike, and each has its own spread of speckle.
It is the cup that comes out first thing: morning tea at the kitchen table, a coffee at your desk, or hot chocolate on a cold evening. The rounded body is easy to cup in both hands, which makes it a cosy choice for slow weekend breakfasts and for guests who settle in for a second pot. It sits well on a breakfast table, on a tea tray carried through to the sitting room, or beside a stack of books in a reading corner.
The cup is made entirely of stoneware and weighs 0.26KG. Stoneware holds heat well, which is what you want from an everyday cup. It is dishwasher safe, so it goes straight in with the rest of the breakfast things, and microwave safe for reheating a coffee that has gone cold. It is oven safe as well, which is handy for warming the cups before you pour. For a tidy open shelf, stand a row of these cups with their handles all turned the same way, or hang them from hooks under a cabinet; stood rim down, their insides stay free of dust.

Frequently Asked
How much does the cup hold?
It holds 275ml, which is a good size for a full cup of tea, a milky coffee or a hot chocolate.
Can it go in the dishwasher and the microwave?
Yes. The maker lists it as both dishwasher safe and microwave safe, so it can be washed and reheated without fuss.
Is it oven safe?
Yes, the maker lists it as oven safe, so the cup can go in the oven, for example to warm it before pouring a hot drink.
What is it made of?
It is made of 100% stoneware finished in a beige reactive glaze, and the cup weighs 0.26KG.
How big is it?
It measures 9cm across and 8cm tall, a rounded shape that sits low and is easy to hold in both hands.
Will my cup look exactly like the photographs?
Very close, though not identical. A reactive glaze varies as it fires, so the speckle and the way the glaze lightens towards the rim differ slightly from cup to cup.
