Description
The Patthar is a ceramic pasta bowl, 23cm across and 5cm deep, with a shallow well and a broad flat rim. The rim carries the decoration: wide vertical bars brushed on in a soft clay tone, each one separated from the next by a plain cream gap with a line of small rust dots running out through it towards the edge. The bars vary in width and in how heavily the brush was loaded, and the glaze over them is glossy. The well and the centre are left plain cream.
At 23cm it takes up the same room on a table as a dinner plate, and the 5cm depth holds a portion of pasta, a risotto or a dressed salad without any of it reaching the rim. The rim is wide enough to pick the bowl up by without putting a thumb in the food, and wide enough to rest a fork on between mouthfuls. Stacked, the bowls nest into one another, so a set of them takes little more cupboard height than the same number of plates.
The bowl is ceramic, shaped and then hand-painted one at a time, which is why the bars sit at slightly different spacings round each rim and the dotted lines are never the same length twice. It is food safe and dishwasher safe. The Patthar range runs to dinner plates, side plates, cereal bowls, mugs, jugs, a butter dish and a teapot in the same painted finish.

Frequently Asked
How big is it?
23cm across and 5cm deep.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes. It is dishwasher safe, and it is food safe.
Is the pattern the same on every bowl?
No. Each rim is painted by hand, so the width of the bars and the spacing of the dots differ from bowl to bowl.
What else is in the range?
Dinner plates, side plates, cereal bowls, serving bowls, mugs, jugs, egg cups, a butter dish, a cup and saucer and a teapot.
How do I look after it?
Wash it after every use so it does not stain, using a mild detergent, and do not leave it to soak. Handle it carefully, because the rim will chip.
