Description

A pair of large stoneware mugs, each 7cm high and 10cm across and holding 370ml. The colourway is cream and sand, laid on by hand: the soft clay surface is painted with a brush before firing, one mug at a time, so the marking on each is its own. This is the larger of the two Patthar mug sizes.

370ml is a generous mug, and at 7cm high by 10cm across it is broad and low rather than tall and narrow, so a whole hand goes round it and it sits low under a kitchen shelf. The mugs come in a pair, and they are dishwasher safe as well as food safe. The smaller Patthar mug is sold in a pair too, in the same three colourways.

The mugs are stoneware. The clay is painted by hand with fine brushstrokes before it is fired, a step only a few makers are trained for, and the result differs a little from mug to mug. The wider Patthar range runs to a teapot, two sizes of jug, dinner and side plates, pasta and cereal bowls, a serving bowl, a cup and saucer, egg cups and a butter dish.
