Description

The Palladium is a 49cm diameter side table with an integrated clock mechanism and visible moving cogs beneath a glass top surface. The clock dial sits in the centre of the table, surrounded by exposed brass-tone gears and cogs that rotate as the mechanism runs, creating a kinetic display visible through the glass. The frame is black metal with a bronze-tone outer rim and three-leg support structure.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and studies where side-of-sofa or bedside table space is needed, the Palladium combines functional surface area with a decorative mechanical element. The 57cm height suits standard sofa arm height for placing drinks, books or devices, while the clock face is readable from a seated position. The glass top provides a wipeable surface for everyday use, and the raised rim around the edge prevents items from sliding off.

The clock mechanism runs on three AA batteries (not included) and drives both the hands and the cog movement beneath the glass. The exposed gears are fixed to the mechanism rather than being decorative static elements, so they move at different speeds as the clock runs. The black frame and bronze rim finish pair with industrial, mid-century and contemporary interiors, particularly where metallic accents or mechanical themes are already present. The three-leg frame has a footprint of approximately 49cm square and distributes the 4.5kg weight evenly on carpets and hard floors.

Do the cogs actually move or are they decorative?

The cogs move. They are connected to the battery-powered clock mechanism and rotate at different speeds as the mechanism runs. This is a functional kinetic element, not a static decoration.

What batteries does it need?

The clock mechanism requires three AA batteries, which are not included. Standard alkaline AA batteries work fine.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The Palladium is for indoor use only. Outdoor exposure will damage the clock mechanism and corrode the metal frame.

Is the glass top removable for cleaning?

The glass sits in the top rim of the frame and can be lifted out for cleaning the underside and the mechanism beneath. Wipe the glass with standard glass cleaner and dry with a microfibre cloth.
