Description

The Palladium is a 32.5cm mantel clock with exposed moving cogs visible through a glass face, set in a black nickel and brushed antique silver frame on a rectangular pedestal base. The clock face uses minimal tick marks around the perimeter instead of traditional numerals, with the gear mechanism — visible through the glass — forming the central visual feature. Two black hands track hours and minutes against a grey dial.

Designed for mantelpieces, bookshelves and desks in studies, living rooms and home offices, the clock suits interiors where industrial or mechanical aesthetics are valued. The pedestal base gives the clock a 25cm width footprint and keeps it stable on flat surfaces without needing wall mounting. The 10cm depth allows placement close to a wall or at the front edge of a shelf. The clock runs on three AA batteries (sold separately), so no mains power or winding is required.

The black nickel finish on the frame provides a dark metallic contrast against the brushed antique silver outer rim, which shows light patina texture. The exposed cog mechanism is functional rather than decorative — the gears actually drive the clock movement. The glass face is set behind the metal bezel and is not removable for cleaning. At 1.4kg the clock has enough mass to stay put on a shelf but remains light enough to reposition without strain.

Frequently Asked

Do the cogs actually move?

Yes. The visible gears are part of the functional clock mechanism and rotate as the clock runs. They are not purely decorative.

What batteries does it take?

The clock requires three AA batteries, which are not included. Standard alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries are suitable.

Can the glass face be cleaned?

The glass is set behind the metal bezel and cannot be removed. Clean the outer glass surface with a dry microfibre cloth or a lightly dampened cloth if needed, taking care not to let moisture reach the mechanism.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

No. The clock is designed for indoor use only. Outdoor exposure to moisture or temperature fluctuation will damage the mechanism and finish.
