Description

The Palladium is a 32.5cm mantel clock with five exposed metal cogs visible through a glass front, set in a black face with an antique gold frame. The cogs rotate as the clock runs, creating visible mechanical movement behind the clock hands. The face uses minute tick marks in place of numerals, with the hour positions marked by longer tick lines radiating from the outer edge.

Designed for mantelpieces, bookcases and desks, the clock sits on a rectangular plinth base that gives it a 10cm front-to-back footprint and prevents it tipping. The clock face is angled slightly back from vertical, making it easier to read from below when placed on a higher shelf. The 1.4kg weight provides stability on most flat surfaces without needing to be secured.

The antique gold finish on the frame and cogs has a brushed, slightly weathered appearance that contrasts with the matt black of the clock face. The combination suits industrial, steampunk and traditional interiors where exposed mechanics are a design feature. The clock mechanism runs on 3 AA batteries (not included) and is rated for indoor use only.

Frequently Asked

Do the cogs actually move?

Yes. The five cogs visible through the glass front rotate as the clock mechanism runs. The movement is slow and constant, matching the passage of time rather than ticking with each second.

What batteries does it take?

The clock requires 3 AA batteries, which are not included. Standard alkaline AA batteries typically last 6-12 months depending on the quality of the battery and ambient temperature.

Can it be wall-mounted?

No. The clock is designed as a mantel or table clock and sits on its rectangular plinth base. There is no wall-mounting provision on the back.

How is the glass cleaned?

Wipe the glass front gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid getting moisture into the mechanism housing around the edges.
