Description

This wall coat rack is made from iron and shaped as a row of five branches, each carrying clusters of round leaves, rising from a gently wavy rail. A hook hangs beneath every branch, five in all, and each one finishes in a small rounded tip. The branches alternate in height, taller at both ends and in the centre and shorter in between, which gives the rack an easy, natural rhythm along the wall. It is 57cm long, 5cm wide and 31.5cm tall, painted in brass.

At 57cm long it suits a hallway by the front door, where five hooks give room for the coats, scarves and bags that otherwise end up over a banister. It works just as well in a bedroom for a dressing gown and the next day's clothes, or beside a back door for a tote and a lead for the dog. Because the branches rise clear of the hooks, the rack still looks finished when nothing hangs on it, so it can sit in a living room or on a landing as wall decoration that also does a job.
