Our Paddy table lamp is a small mushroom of blue glass: a deep, rounded dome sits on a short stem that widens towards its base, and the whole piece is finished to a high gloss that catches the light around it. It stands 26.5cm tall and measures 20cm across, so it fits comfortably on a bedside table, a narrow shelf or a windowsill where a wider lamp would crowd the space. It is made of glass and iron and weighs 0.68KG, light enough to carry from room to room.

Its maximum bulb is LED 3W or CFL 7W, so this is a lamp for soft accent light rather than a bright working light, and it comes into its own in the evening. Switched on, the dome no longer reads as solid blue: the light comes through the glass with a cloudy, mottled texture. Put it on a bedside table, on a side table next to an armchair, on a sideboard in the hall or on the corner of a desk. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs in dry rooms.
