Description

The Ortona is a 60cm diameter 8-light chandelier built around a russet brown metal frame with eight opal white glass shades, each housing an E14 bulb. The metal arms curve outward in symmetrical pairs from a central column, with each arm terminating in a tulip-shaped opal glass shade that diffuses light evenly without glare. The chandelier includes all eight E14 bulbs and weighs 8.3kg once assembled.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Ortona can be fitted as a standard pendant on chain or converted to semi-flush mounting for lower ceilings by removing sections of the suspension rod. The 550mm drop from canopy to lowest point allows the chandelier to sit 700-900mm above a dining table in typical installations. The russet brown finish on the metalwork adds warmth to traditional and transitional interiors without the reflective properties of polished brass or chrome.

The opal glass shades are mouth-blown and show slight variation in thickness and tone between individual pieces, which is characteristic of the manufacturing process. The eight-light configuration provides substantial illumination across a 3-4m dining table or 4-5m hallway when fitted with 40-60W equivalent LED bulbs. The chandelier is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch.

The russet brown powder-coated finish on the metal frame resists tarnishing and fingerprints better than raw brass or oiled bronze, requiring only occasional dusting with a dry microfibre cloth. The opal glass diffusers soften the light output and hide the bulb filament from view when looking directly at the fitting, making the Ortona suitable for positions where the chandelier sits at or below eye level.
