Description

The Okota is a wall clock made as a single disc of aluminium, 38cm across and 3cm deep, with no glass, no numerals and no markers. The face is finished in antique brass and left heavily mottled, pitted and cloudy, darker round the rim and lighter across the centre. Two slim pale brass hands turn from a small domed boss, each carrying a short tail past the centre.

At 38cm across it reads from the other side of a room, on a kitchen wall, in a hallway or above a mantelpiece, and with no numerals the time is taken from the angle of the hands rather than from a figure they point at. It stands only 3cm off the wall, so it sits almost flat against it, and it weighs 1.42kg. It is for indoor use.

The clock is aluminium, finished in antique brass and worked so that the surface is textured rather than smooth, which is where the cloudy, uneven tone comes from. No two faces carry the same pattern of light and dark. The Okota wall clock is also made in a larger size.
