Description

Twelve small glass baubles hung at intervals along a twisted sari cord 150cm long. The cord is pink and white, and the baubles are matt rather than lustred: teal, deep red, ochre, olive and pink, in round and elongated shapes. Each bauble drops on its own short tie off the cord rather than being threaded onto it, so they hang clear and turn.

A hundred and fifty centimetres is enough to swag once across a mantel or the front of a sideboard, or to wind through a wreath. Because the baubles are matt they carry colour without throwing light back, so against a lit fir garland they read as solid points rather than as reflections. It also runs along a laid table.

The baubles are recycled glass. The waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown, which is what leaves the irregular mottling on every one. The cord is recycled sari fabric and each tie is cut from a different length, so no two garlands are alike.
