Description

This is a generous jug in cream stoneware, 24cm tall and 17cm across, holding 3300ml. Its body swells from a narrow foot to a full, rounded belly, then draws in a little towards the rim, finishing in a pouring lip on one side and a long loop handle on the other. The pattern is decorated by hand: a scalloped border with small dots runs around the neck, a band circles the shoulder, and on each side an oval medallion frames a single flower on a leafy stem, with little flower sprigs scattered around it. It weighs 1.496KG, so it feels solid and substantial in the hand.

With 3300ml to fill, this is a table jug rather than a milk jug: iced water with lemon and mint for a family lunch, homemade lemonade in the garden, or squash for the children's table on a summer afternoon.
