Description
A table lantern 12cm high, built as a glass box in an antique brass frame: four glass panels held in slim posts, a metal floor, and a solid top plate carrying a shallow open tray that stands proud of it with a wire loop set around it. One panel is hung as a door and closes on a small pin at the edge, which is all that holds it shut. Four small feet lift the frame clear of the surface it stands on.
At 12cm high and 11cm across the front it is a lantern for close quarters rather than a floor piece: a mantelpiece, a dining table, a sideboard or a windowsill. It is only 6cm deep, so it will stand on a narrow shelf or a window reveal. It takes a tealight, which stands on the metal floor behind the glass, and the larger size is the same height and 15cm across. It works on its own or as a pair.
The frame is iron under an antique brass finish and the panels are glass. The metal surface is left uneven and aged, so the brass tone varies across the posts, the floor and the top plate, and no two frames read quite alike. Obi runs in two sizes, both 12cm high and 6cm deep. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked
What candle does it take?
A tealight, standing on the metal floor inside.
How does it open?
One glass panel is a door, and a simple pin fixing at the edge lets it swing open so a candle can be put inside.
Is there a larger size?
Yes. The large is 15cm across the front, at the same 12cm height and 6cm depth.
Can it be used outdoors?
No. Indoor use only.
How should it be looked after?
Wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth so dust and dirt do not build up, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. To take off wax, use warm water with a mild dish soap, dry it immediately and do not leave it to soak.
Does it get hot in use?
Yes. Stand the candle securely and keep the flame away from the glass, keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
