Description

A glass vase 43cm tall, 20cm across at its widest and drawing in to a 13cm opening, finished with a smooth rolled rim. The walls curve rather than run straight, so the outline bows gently from the foot up to the mouth. The glass is clear and carries a dense scatter of tiny bubbles through its thickness, with finer flecks and faint swirls running through it.

At 43cm this takes long stems: sculptural branches, tall dried grasses, or an armful of fresh flowers. The 13cm mouth is wide enough to let stems fall open rather than holding them in a tight bunch. The bubbles show most where light comes through the glass from behind.

The vase is recycled glass. The bubbles are put there on purpose: the glassmakers work tiny pockets of air into the glass during the making so that the speckling appears, and because that is done by hand the density and the placing differ on every vase. It is made in two sizes, this one at 43cm and the smaller at 27cm.

Frequently Asked

How tall is it?

43cm, 20cm across at the widest, with a 13cm opening.

Why does the glass have bubbles in it?

They are deliberate. The glassmakers work tiny pockets of air into the glass during the making, and that is what gives the speckled effect.

Is there a smaller one?

Yes. It is made in two sizes, 43cm and 27cm.

What is the glass?

Recycled glass.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Hand wash only, using a mild dish soap, and do not leave it to soak. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it.
