Description

The large Noko is a flattened globe of open woven wicker, much wider than it is deep, closed at the top around the flex and open underneath. Broad vertical ribs run from top to bottom like the segments of a pumpkin, with finer strips woven round them in close rings and gaps left between. The lampholder hangs inside at the centre. It is 35cm deep and 54cm across, on a black flex.

It is 54cm across, so it covers a wide circle on the table below. Through the sides the weave lets enough out that the shade itself is the brightest thing at that height once the bulb is on. That width wants clearance: a dining table, a stairwell, or a room where one fitting is doing all the work rather than a narrow hallway. It takes one E27 bulb up to 40W, it is dimmable, the flex runs 1.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The shade is wicker, woven by hand over upright ribs, so no two come out the same and the strips vary in width and tone. It comes with a lampholder and an antique brass ceiling rose, and it can also be used as a shade on its own where a fitting is already in place. The Noko range also holds a conical wicker pendant 40cm across, a dome pendant, a rattan flush ceiling fitting, two rattan table lamps and a rattan wall light. Bulbs are not included.

Frequently Asked

What is the maximum bulb wattage?

40W. That is the figure marked on the lampholder inside the shade.

Can it be used as a shade on its own?

Yes. It comes with a lampholder and an antique brass ceiling rose, and it can also go on an existing fitting as a shade only.

How is it different from the conical Noko?

That one is a tall cone 47cm deep and 40cm across. This is a flattened globe 35cm deep and 54cm across, so it takes more width and less height.

How do I clean it?

Use a soft bristle brush to take the dust out of the weave. Keep harsh chemical cleaners off the wicker.
