Niobe 3 Light Crystal Chandelier - French Gold 53cm

The Niobe is a 53cm three-light crystal chandelier built around a central French gold column with three curved arms extending outward, each arm threaded with Asfour crystal strands and terminating in an E14 candle bulb holder set on a small crystal pan. A crystal-topped sphere sits at the top of the central column where the arms meet, and the whole fitting suspends on a chain from a French gold ceiling rose. The chandelier takes three E14 candle bulbs (sold separately) up to 60W each.

Designed for dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and smaller reception rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Niobe provides decorative ambient light rather than task lighting. The 450mm minimum drop allows it to be fitted in rooms with standard ceiling heights, while the 1500mm maximum drop accommodates double-height hallways and stairwells. The 53cm diameter suits spaces where a larger chandelier would overwhelm — typically rooms between 12-18 square metres. The chandelier is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

The French gold finish is a warm, slightly antiqued gold tone with a low sheen that softens reflections under both daylight and artificial light. The Asfour crystals along each arm catch and refract light when the chandelier is lit, creating small points of sparkle across the room. At 2.5kg, the chandelier requires a ceiling fixing rated to support at least 5kg, and the chain must be threaded through a ceiling rose with adequate cable retention. The French gold pairs comfortably with warm-toned woods, cream and off-white walls, and traditional or transitional interiors.

What bulbs does the Niobe take?

The chandelier takes three E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for ambient light that complements the French gold finish.

Is the Niobe dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E14 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. The chandelier itself contains no electronics that would prevent dimming — dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen and the dimmer model installed.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum 450mm drop allows the chandelier to be fitted in rooms with 2.4m ceilings, though it sits more comfortably in rooms of 2.6m or higher. For dining tables, a typical drop of 700-900mm above the table surface works in most rooms. The chain is adjustable between 450mm and 1500mm on installation.

How are the crystals cleaned?

Switch off the power at the mains before cleaning. Wipe each crystal strand gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For deeper cleaning, individual crystals can be wiped with a barely-damp cloth and distilled water, then dried immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking or using household sprays.
