Description

This is a round terracotta plant pot, 18cm across and 17cm tall, covered from rim to base in a raised botanical relief. Leaves, fronds and a fruiting cluster overlap on every side, so there is no plain back and no single front: turn it any way and the pattern continues. The body is softly rounded, swelling a little before it tucks in towards the base, and the whole surface has a high gloss that pulls light into every vein and seed. In black, the relief reads as texture first and pattern second, which is exactly why we like it.

At 18cm across, this is a pot for a houseplant of modest size rather than a floor-standing specimen: a pothos, a fern, a peace lily or a small palm all suit a pot of this width. It belongs on a sideboard, a bookshelf, a desk or a deep windowsill in a living room, study, hallway or kitchen. Black plays well against green foliage, making leaves look brighter, and it holds its own beside wood, stone and pale ceramics. With no right or wrong side, it also works in the middle of a coffee table, where it is seen from every angle.

The pot is made of 100% terracotta, a fired clay, and weighs 2.2KG, which gives it a solid, substantial feel in the hand. The relief is raised from the surface rather than printed, and the gloss runs over every ridge and hollow. For styling, we like to keep a plant in its plastic nursery pot and set that pot inside this one, which makes lifting it out for watering simple and lets you swap plants with the seasons. Group it with lighter, smoother pieces so the texture has room to show; the styling props shown are not included.

Frequently Asked

What is the plant pot made of?

It is made of 100% terracotta, a fired clay, and weighs 2.2KG, so it has a solid, substantial feel on a shelf or windowsill.

How big is the pot?

It measures 18cm across and 17cm tall, which makes it a good fit for a houseplant of modest size on a shelf, desk or windowsill.

What kind of plants suit it?

Houseplants of modest size suit it best: a pothos, a fern, a peace lily or a small palm all look at home in a pot 18cm across.

Is the pattern on every side of the pot?

Yes. The raised botanical relief of leaves, fronds and a fruiting cluster covers the whole pot from rim to base, so there is no plain back.

Is a plant included?

No. The pot comes on its own; the plant and the other styling props shown are not included, so you can choose a plant that suits your room.

What colour and finish does it have?

It is black with a high gloss, and the raised relief catches the light so the botanical pattern shows clearly on every side of the pot.
