Description

The Nico is a 480mm crystal table lamp built around a polished chrome stem with cascading optical prism glass discs and three G4 bulbs housed within a chrome canopy at the head. Each disc is cut at precise angles to refract light into spectrum colours, so the lamp produces rainbow flashes when lit and visible prismatic effects even when off. The three 20W G4 halogen bulbs (included) sit vertically within the canopy, directing light downwards through the hanging crystal strands.

Designed for side tables, console tables and bedroom nightstands where decorative accent lighting is needed rather than primary task light, the Nico combines the visual drama of crystal with the controlled output of halogen capsule bulbs. The 150mm circular chrome base gives stability on flat surfaces, and the inline dimmer on the cable allows brightness adjustment from a soft glow to full output without needing a wall dimmer. The lamp draws 60W total at full brightness across the three bulbs.

The optical prism discs are arranged in four vertical strands around the chrome canopy, with larger circular discs alternating with smaller oval cuts to vary the refraction pattern. The polished chrome finish reflects and multiplies the prismatic effects, creating moving light patterns on nearby walls as the crystals shift slightly with air movement. At 1kg total weight, the lamp is stable without being difficult to reposition. The G4 halogen bulbs produce warm white light at approximately 2700K, which interacts with the crystal to generate warmer tones than cooler LED equivalents would.

This lamp is NOT compatible with LED or CFL G4 bulbs — it requires halogen capsules to maintain the intended colour rendering and dimming behaviour. Using non-halogen bulbs will result in poor dimming performance and altered light quality through the prisms.

Can I use LED G4 bulbs in this lamp?

No. The Nico is designed for halogen G4 capsules only. LED or CFL G4 bulbs will not dim correctly on the inline dimmer and will alter the colour rendering through the optical prism discs, reducing the rainbow refraction effect.

What is the inline dimmer and how does it work?

The inline dimmer is a small rotary or slide control built into the power cable, typically positioned 300-500mm from the lamp base. You rotate or slide the control to adjust brightness from off through to full 60W output without needing a wall-mounted dimmer switch.

How much light does it provide?

At full output the three 20W halogen bulbs produce approximately 600-750 lumens combined, sufficient for accent lighting or bedside reading when positioned close to the task. This is decorative lighting rather than high-output task lighting.

How are the crystals cleaned?

Unplug the lamp and allow the bulbs to cool. Wipe each prism disc gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or dust buildup, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal fittings or getting moisture into the bulb canopy.
