Description

This oval stoneware tray is 35cm long, 17.5cm wide and 3.5cm tall, a long, slim shape made for laying food out in a line rather than in a heap. The white glaze is flecked all over with fine speckles, and across it runs a pattern of wavy, interlocking lines that meet in rows of diamonds, with two small eye motifs set among them. A low rim runs all the way round the edge, and the tray weighs 0.83KG. It is a pattern with character, yet the white ground keeps it calm enough for everyday use.

Its length makes it a natural choice for food served in a row: sushi, a run of cheeses with crackers, sliced fruit, antipasti or a cut loaf for the table.
