Description

Our Neri dinner plate is black stoneware, 29cm across and 2cm tall, with fine ridges that radiate from the centre right out to the rim. The ridges give the surface a texture you can feel under your fingertips, and they catch the light, so the black has depth rather than looking flat. The glaze has a soft shimmer, which lifts it above a plain matt finish. At 29cm across it is a full dinner plate size, with room for a main course and its sides, and at 1KG it has a reassuring weight in the hand.

It is made for everyday dinners and for the evenings when you lay the table with a little more care. Black makes a generous background for food: bright vegetables, a pale risotto, grilled fish or a small spoonful of something colourful all stand out against it. Use it as the main plate at a dinner party, as a base beneath a smaller plate or bowl, or on its own for a simple supper at the kitchen table. It suits a dining room with dark wood or warm oak, and it looks just as at home in a modern kitchen with pale stone worktops.

The plate is 100% stoneware, and stoneware is a dense ceramic that stands up well to daily use. It is approved for food and goes in the dishwasher, so clearing up after a meal is simple.
