Narlu Window Box Planter - Aged Zinc

The Narlu is a window box 70cm long, 19.5cm deep and 17cm tall, built as two parts: a zinc trough with a rolled rim and sides that flare out towards the top, and a slim iron frame that the trough sits down into. The frame runs round the base and up the corners and stands the box on four short feet. The zinc is pale grey and already mottled, with darker streaks and a pale bloom across the panels, and the iron is a dark brown carrying rust.

70cm fits the width of a sash window, and it sits on a ledge beneath one. The trough has drainage holes and is made for outdoor use, so it can be planted directly and left out. It takes herbs, wild strawberries, lavender and trailing flowers, and salad, tomatoes, peppers and chillies as well. Store it away or bring it inside over the winter months.

The trough is zinc and the frame is iron. The zinc carries an aged tone from the start and will weather further outside, and it will rust more over time, so the surface it arrives with is not the surface it keeps.
