Description
Our Napoli rug is woven from 100% wool in grey and measures 200cm long and 140cm wide. Its pattern is one to feel as well as see: abstract shapes, some broad and rounded, others narrow and lined up in rows like stepping stones, stand raised from a flatter woven ground, so the design reads as much by touch as by eye. A fringe finishes the short ends. At 12.4KG it is a rug of real substance, and wool is a naturally springy fibre that recovers well from footsteps, which matters in the parts of a home that see the most traffic.
At 200cm by 140cm it is a medium size. It is long enough to run the length of a short hall or cover the floor just inside the front door, which is where we would put it first, giving arriving feet something soft and warm. It is equally at home in a living room, laid in front of a sofa, or in a bedroom beside the bed, where wool is a kinder thing to step onto first thing in the morning than a cold floor. Its quiet grey and abstract shapes suit a calm, pared-back room with plain walls and wooden floors, giving the floor interest without the busyness of a loud print. The styling props shown are not included.
Its construction is woven, and the shapes sit in a deeper pile than the flatter ground around them. Care is spot clean only, so it never goes in the washing machine: marks are dealt with where they fall, rather than by washing the whole rug, and it is worth tackling a spill while it is fresh. For styling, lay it where daylight from a window falls across it at a low angle; side light picks out the difference in height between the shapes and the ground.

Frequently Asked
Is the rug pure wool?
Yes. It is 100% wool and woven, with the raised shapes in a deeper pile than the flatter ground around them.
How big is the rug?
It is 200cm long and 140cm wide, a medium size that suits a hallway or entrance, the space in front of a sofa, or the side of a bed.
Can the rug be machine washed?
No. The care is spot clean only, so treat marks where they fall rather than washing the whole rug, and deal with spills while they are fresh.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 12.4KG, so it is a rug of real substance, and it is easier to move rolled than dragged.
Does it have a fringe?
Yes. A fringe finishes the short ends of the rug, adding a soft, loose edge to its otherwise clean rectangular outline.
Which room suits it best?
We would lay it in a hallway or just inside the front door, though it sits equally well in a living room or a bedroom.
