Description

This small glass pedestal bowl is shaped like an open flower. Ribbed petals fan out from a round centre and finish in a scalloped rim, and the whole bowl sits on a flared conical foot that lifts it clear of the table. It measures 13cm across and 10cm tall and holds 220ml, so it is a bowl for a handful of something rather than a sharing dish for the whole table. The pink is deepest along the petal edges and softer towards the middle, and because the glass is translucent, light falling through it picks out every rib.

The maker lists it for food use, so we would put it to work at the table: a portion of berries at breakfast, olives or salted nuts with drinks, sweets for guests or a small dessert. One at each place setting makes an ordinary dinner feel more considered, and on a kitchen counter it is a pretty home for wrapped chocolates.
