Nalbari Mango Wood Coasters - Natural - Set of 4

A set of four square coasters in mango wood, each one built from short strips laid in a chevron so the grain turns back and forth across the face. The strips run from pale straw to a darker honey, so every coaster reads as a patchwork rather than as one board. They stack in a square mango wood stand with a turned post at each corner that keeps the pile square.

Each coaster is cut thick enough to have some weight in the hand, and the stand keeps the four together on a table rather than loose in a drawer. Stand and coasters together stand 7.5cm tall on a 14 by 14cm footprint, so the set takes up about as much room on a table as a glass does.

The wood is mango, and the faces are pieced from short lengths laid edge to edge. Mango trees are grown first for their fruit and cut for timber only once they stop bearing, which is what puts the wood into use at all. The Nalbari range also holds chopping boards in three sizes and pizza boards in two.

How many are in the set?

Four, and the stand comes with them.

How big is it?

The set in its stand measures 14 by 14cm and stands 7.5cm tall.

What are they made from?

Mango wood. The faces are pieced from strips laid in a chevron.

Will the four look the same?

No. Every strip carries its own grain and tone, so each coaster comes out different.

How are they looked after?

Wash them in warm soapy water and dry them straight away, and never leave them to soak. That stops the wood taking on moisture and warping or cracking.
