Description

The Najja is a wall light with a wide shallow cone of a shade hanging straight down below the wall plate rather than reaching out on an arm. A round plate fixes on two bolts, a short stem drops from it to a knurled brass collar, and the cone widens from there to a plain open rim 19.5cm across. The brass is heavily aged, dark and mottled, with the marks running differently over every part of it. It is 18.5cm tall and takes up 21cm of wall depth.

Because the shade hangs below the plate and is solid, everything goes downward: the wall above stays dark and the light lands in a defined pool underneath. Lit, the bulb shows in the rim. It suits a hallway, a bedroom or a living room where a pool of light is wanted rather than a wash. It takes one E27 bulb up to 40W, it works on a dimmer, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The fitting is brass under an antique brass finish, dark enough that in our photographs it reads closer to bronze than to gold.

Frequently Asked

Which way does the light go?

Down. The shade hangs below the plate and it is solid, so nothing goes up the wall.

Is the bulb visible?

From below, yes. The rim is open and the bulb sits inside the cone.

What bulb does it take?

One E27, up to 40W.

Can it go on a dimmer?

Yes.

How do I clean it?

Turn it off, then wipe it with a soft dry cloth to keep dust off. Keep abrasives and harsh chemicals off the finish.
