Description

The Naavia is a six light chandelier built as an open basket of rust coloured iron: six slim ribs sweep down from the canopy, bow out into a wide ring and draw back together at the foot. Six arms curve up from that ring, each ending in a plain cylindrical candle tube. Strands of faceted glass beads swag between the ribs and hang in short drops beneath each arm, in a warm champagne tone rather than clear. It stands 70cm tall and 51cm across.

The frame is open, so the room is visible straight through it and the beads catch light rather than block it. That suits a stairwell, a hallway or a dining table where it is seen from below and from the side. It takes six E14 bulbs up to 25W each and it is dimmable, which matters with exposed candle bulbs at eye level. The flex runs 150cm. At 3.74kg it is light for its size, though the fixing still wants to be into a joist.

The frame is iron finished in rust, matt and slightly uneven across the bends, and the beads are glass. Every strand is hung by hand, so the drape differs a little from one fitting to the next. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. Bulbs are not included.

How many bulbs does a 6 light chandelier take?

Six, one per sconce, all E14 and none over 25W. They're sold separately, and it's worth buying all six the same, because a mismatched one shows immediately at this spacing.

How much ceiling height do I need?

The chandelier itself is 70cm deep and the flex adds up to 1.5m above that. Over a table you can afford the drop; in a room people cross, measure from the floor to the lowest crystal.

How do I clean the crystals?

A soft dry cloth, taken slowly. If something needs more, use a barely damp cloth and dry it at once, because the iron under the rust finish will corrode if water is left sitting on it.

Will every chandelier look the same?

No. The frame is built individually and the rust finish is applied over it, so the depth of colour shifts from one to the next and no two crystals cut identically.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It's rated IP20, which is no water protection at all, and steam alone is enough to reach the ironwork.
