Description
A candlestick 28cm tall, built from a black iron cup and foot with a woven sleeve between them. The cup has a lobed rim, like the calyx of a flower, and sits on a round knop above a straight column wrapped in flat strips of natural cane laid in close horizontal courses. The foot is a flat iron disc 8cm across with a beaten, faceted edge. The black sits unevenly over the iron and the cane runs from honey through to a darker toasted brown.
At 28cm this is the taller of the two Musika candlesticks. Standing beside the 17cm one, the two put their flames at different heights. The cup is a socket and the taper drops straight into it. The foot is only 8cm across, so a pair takes up very little of a table or a mantelpiece, and the height comes from the stem rather than the base.
The cup, the knop and the foot are iron, formed and then finished in black. The stem is wrapped by hand, and the wrapping is worked with heat to distress it, which is what varies the tone along the column from one candlestick to the next. Musika also comes at 17cm. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked
How tall is it?
28cm, and 8cm across the foot. Musika also comes at 17cm.
What candle does it take?
A taper. The cup is a socket, so the candle drops into it.
What is the stem wrapped in?
Flat strips of natural cane, wound by hand around the iron stem and then worked with heat, so the tone varies along the column and from one candlestick to the next.
Is it sold singly?
Yes. This is one candlestick.
How do I look after it?
Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and take off any excess wax after each use so it does not build up. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it. Stand the candle securely, keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
