The Mukuni is a broad saucer of woven wire. A small stepped cone at the top takes the flex, and from it the shade spreads outward and downward into a flattened disc 54.5cm across but only 24cm deep, with an open ring at the centre of the underside. The wire is worked in an open mesh over radiating ribs, and the darker bronze and black finish makes those ribs read as lines against the weave. It weighs 2.05kg.

The proportion is what this shade is for. At 54.5cm across and 24cm deep it covers a wide area without dropping far, so it suits a dining table or an island in a room where a tall pendant would be in the way, and it can hang lower than its width suggests. The mesh is open, so the bulb shows and the light goes through the shade as well as out of the ring below it, throwing the pattern of the weave onto the ceiling above. It is made for ceiling use only.

The wire is iron and the finish is a dark bronze and black. Each shade is woven and shaped by hand over its ribs, so the density of the mesh and the exact line of the rim differ between them. The Mukuni range also holds this shade in brass, and a taller onion shaped version. No fitting, flex or bulb is included.
